BREAKING NEWS: At least one killed in “terror” attack at Westminster

A WOMAN has been killed in a ‘terrorist incident’ at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster today.

A policeman has been stabbed, while an assailant has been shot.

A number of other people have also been injured, according to eyewitness reports.

A car has crashed after being driven towards, and hitting, pedestrians – also on Westminster Bridge.

There are unconfirmed reports from a junior doctor at St. Thomas’ Hospital, that at least one woman has died and others having suffered ‘cataclysmic injuries’.

The Metropolitan Police were called at 14.40 to an incident on Westminster Bridge, which has since been confirmed as being a ‘firearms incident’.

Staff in government buildings are on lock-down, with no-one allowed in or out of major government offices in Whitehall.

Proceedings at the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood have been suspended, including the planned debate on Scottish independence.

A man has also been arrested for attempting to break the police cordon.

Facebook has also activated it’s safety check mechanism, where people can let their friends and family know that they are safe.

The police are appealing to members of the public for any videos or photographs of the incident. These can be sent here.

The London Ambulance Service have said that they arrived on the scene within 6 minutes of being called. They have also said that their main priority is getting help and treatment to those who need it.

In a further statement, the police are asking people to avoid Parliament Square, Whitehall, Westminster and Lambeth Bridges, parts of Victoria Street and Victoria Embankment.

Prime Minister, Theresa May, was seen being ushered into a silver Jaguar, and has since been confirmed as having returned safely to Downing Street.

Parliament was in session as the incident occured and MPs are still locked inside the Commons.
